Onan Generator

The service and advice I received from Dennis And Shawn at Advanced Service And Parts was outstanding and I couldn't have repaired my generator without them. I purchased an older RV with an Onan LP Generator. Despite reading the manual troubleshooting charts, numerous YouTube videos and the 'scientific method' approach, I could not determine why it would run perfectly for about 8 minutes, and then shut itself off. After several bouts of self diagnoses (fuel system, spark plugs, other 'theories'), Dennis and Shawn indicated it was probably an Control system problem. After describing the problem, Dennis gave me a good troubleshooting method which identified it exactly; the Voltage Regulator was bad. Ordering the part was easy, and the part ordered appears to be higher quality than the original. It came with great instructions to include a pre-maintenance check to ensure I didn't turn around and destroy the new one (the note on cleaning the brushes and slip rings was particularly helpful). YouTube and other Blogs can be helpful in identifying a problem, but they can also be a collection of other people who don't know what they are doing. I recommend Advanced Service and Parts. I will certainly return as a customer.
